• Use cross-agency data matching and analytics to flag suspicious claims before payment.

• Recover misspent funds aggressively and suspend high-risk providers when the law and evidence support it.

Consider the impact of just one of the many instances - The Legislative Auditor concluded that inadequate MDE oversight of Feeding Our Future created opportunities for fraud and that warning signs were missed. By July 2026, federal prosecutors reported 68 convictions in the Feeding Our Future case alone.
