Safe neighborhoods are the foundation of strong communities. Public safety requires enough trained people to answer the call, a justice system that takes repeat and violent crime seriously, and local partnerships that help prevent crime before it happens.
In recent years, Minnesotans have felt the true impact of the adversarial relationship between Law Enforcement and DFL elected officials at the State, County and Local level.
We need legislators who will:
• Back law enforcement, firefighters, EMS and dispatchers with the staffing, training and equipment needed to do the job.
• Support recruitment and retention strategies that help departments compete for qualified personnel.
• Hold repeat and violent offenders accountable while respecting constitutional due process.
• Support school safety, prevention and local partnerships as complements to enforcement.
• Protect local flexibility so communities can build public-safety models that fit their needs.
